We have
come a long way
since the
beginning in 1993; however, we still have a long way to go...
Our
future is being
threatened and we
desperately need your help. The
former Shelter which we rented, at 1925 West Hillsboro Boulevard in
Deerfield Beach, was sold & torn down. A generous person has donated a parcel of
land to
us just north of Sample Road in Deerfield Beach, Florida.
However, we urgently
need to build a new shelter on the land where we can continue to save
animals
and provide a service to the community.
We are asking your help
in achieving our
objectives. We hope you will join us in doing all you can to keep
the
Florida Humane Society on a path of progress. We have organized
numerous
fundraisers in which proceeds have benefited the "Raise the Ruff"
building campaign. However, we are still a
long way from reaching our goal for the down payment for the new
shelter.
On
the other hand,
we have a dual
need. Fund
raising is difficult in these economic times. We need to continue
the daily
operations funding, while asking for additional money for a new
shelter.
The volunteers and animals that pass through our shelter are grateful
for all
community support.
We serve our community in
many
ways. We have a FEMA certified DART team that is ready to rescue
animals
in case of disaster. We trap feral cats and have them spayed
and neutered. We see that all animals that come through our
doors
receive the medical care they need.
One of our objectives at
our new shelter
is to have a room to house rescued animals in case of disaster.
We also
hope to have a large room to use for education, community gatherings
and
special programs.
Therefore, we feel that
The Florida
Humane Society is an organization with an agenda that will benefit our
area. We are needed. We have two dogs at this time whose
owner
died. Puppy and Sophie. They are frightened and
confused. We will find
them a
permanent, loving home. We will not turn our
backs on their needs. We must continue to be available to the
community. We need a new shelter as soon as possible.
Please help us make our
dream a reality.
I
would also like to take
this opportunity to thank all of the wonderful volunteers who spend
countless hours taking care of our animals. Without them, we
could not exist. Thank you!
Kindest regards,
Carol Ebert
