Interested in
volunteering?
We
have
many areas
in which your expertise
and compassion can help
Our Volunteers are
indispensable.
Since 1993 they have made The Florida Humane
Society a safe, clean & loving Haven for thousands of animals in
need. By lending their time, energy & talents, they have made
a difference by finding loving homes for cats & dogs that would otherwise be left to
fend for themselves. Volunteering
at
The Florida Humane Society is one o f the most rewarding
experiences one could
experience.

If you are at least 18
years old & have a compassion for animals, you could
make a difference in a cat or dogs life and feel the reward of their
love in return. Won't you help us, help the
animals?
We need
Volunteers to help with the following:
|
Pet
Escorts
Volunteers
to escort potential new owners through
the dog kennels and
cattery at both the Shelter & the Boca Raton
PETsMART. They introduce pets to new owners and help them get
acquainted
at the shelter and off-site locations.
Adoption Counselor
Like
Pet Escorts, these volunteers assist potential adopters with selecting
and socializing pets suitable to their lifestyle. They are further
trained to approve adoptions and complete necessary paperwork at the
shelter and at off-site adoption events.
Adoption Follow-Up
Program
Homebound
volunteers, or those unable to get to the shelter on a regular basis,
can work with our Telephone Adoption Follow-up Program, to determine if
both pets and adopters are living well together.
Cuddlers, Walkers,
and Groomers
Dog-walk
& Cat-cuddle. This
program provides volunteers with the opportunity to allow our animals
to put their best paw forward when being considered for adoption. Dogs
are exercised and cats and dogs are brushed, groomed and bathed.
Shelter &
Adoption Center
Maintenance
This
group of volunteers assist the Shelter staff & the Boca Raton
Point PETsMART Adoption Center in the cleaning of the
animal cages, kennels and general work areas. Additional tasks involve
cleaning and filling litter pans, laundering of towels and rugs used by
the animals, emptying trash containers, and washing animal feed and
water bowls.
Grounds Maintenance
These
volunteers assist in mowing and watering the lawn, weeding and tending
to the plants in an effort to maintain our clean & inviting
Shelter.
Administrative/Office Assistance
As
with any organization, we are frequently backlogged with paper work,
mailings, phone calls and general office projects. Volunteers in this
category avail themselves to whatever the current needs are.
Special
Events
We
frequently place
tables or booths at various community functions. The distribution of
literature, possible adoption of animals and general community
relations require committed volunteers, usually taking 2 to 3 hour
shifts, scheduled advance.
Speakers Bureau
Elicit
support of The Florida Humane Society, our messages and mission by
speaking to groups, clubs, organizations, and businesses about
us. Acting as a Spokes person in media appearances &
represent the Florida Humane Society with integrity &
professionalism.
Fundraising
As
with any non-profit organization, we rely on contributions and the
support of our surrounding communities. To that end, we are especially
interested in those with experience in grant writing &
"chairing" events such as:
Fashion shows, auctions, raffles, etc. Your experience here could be
invaluable to The Florida Humane Society.
Thank
you!
