Organization History
Established as a non-profit charitable organization, designated as a 501(c)3, The Florida Humane Society, Inc. (a No-Kill Organization) has been actively operating since 1993. Since our inception, we have successfully spayed/neutered thousands of animals annually, including both companion and feral ones—over 3,500 each year.Our commitment extends to taking in unwanted companion animals and those facing imminent euthanasia. We address their medical needs, providing spay/neuter services, and strive to secure loving homes for approximately 2,800 animals per year. Some of these include feral cats that undergo relocation after recovery.
Being a volunteer-based organization, the demand for our services has grown
substantially. Daily, we receive numerous calls from individuals and companies seeking assistance with trapping feral cats and from people needing to surrender their companion animals. We aspire to expand our capacity to help even more, responding to an increased number of calls. Despite the dedication, love, compassion, patience, and energy invested by our volunteers, we face financial constraints.
Reflecting on our journey since our inception in 1993, we've made significant strides, yet the need for our services continues to grow.
The Florida Humane Society
Located at 3870 North Powerline Road, the Florida Humane Society is an aesthetically pleasing and functional facility, strategically positioned between Pompano, Deerfield, and Coconut Creek. Serving Broward and Palm Beach Counties, as well as the entirety of South Florida, our organization operates as a crucial adoption facility, rescuing companion animals from both animal control and owner surrenders.As a 501c3 non-profit entity, the Florida Humane Society stands independently, unaffiliated with any other humane organization. We do not receive funding from local, state, or federal agencies, relying solely on the generosity of donations and the community's goodwill.
Committed to enhancing the lives of animals, our society boasts various programs, including community education, spay/neuter initiatives, and a dedicated disaster preparedness team.
Our mission is clear: to rescue unwanted companion pets through adoption, actively contribute to reducing the pet population via spay and neuter programs, and raise community awareness about the ongoing challenges associated with domestic and feral animal populations.
